Swashbuckling Fun at Greenleaf Splash Pad

Tucked away in the hills of eastern Oklahoma, Greenleaf State Park offers spectacular scenery and is a family-friendly state park. The park includes Greenleaf Lake as well as cabins, campgrounds, family recreation facilities and nature hiking trails. The lake cabins and other facilities at Greenleaf State Park were built in the 1930s by the Works Progress Administration (WPA). The original buildings, constructed of native stone, remain a lasting and beautiful tribute to those who built them. Winner of numerous “State Park of the Year” awards, Greenleaf State Park is one of Oklahoma’s premiere public recreation locations.

When the Park decided it was time to replace their pool they partnered with Cyntergy and Paddock Enterprises to design a new splash pad that would elevate the Park’s reputation as a Northeast Oklahoma’s must visit location for outdoor recreation. One of the largest in Oklahoma, the new splash pad was designed to be a re-circulating system instead of the more common pass trough systems. This allows the Park to recapture and treat the water for reuse on the splash pad preventing the waste of thousands of gallons of water a year. The 9,100 square foot splash pad was designed around a Pirate theme and includes several custom play features and design elements. The elevated play structure includes a thatch roof and pirate themed graphics as well as a custom dump bucket with the Oklahoma State Park’s logo. Traditional spray cannons were custom painted to look like little pirates and custom stainless steel railings were installed to give the appearance of a ship’s bow. Other play features include a ships wheel, ships mast, crabs, fish, an octopus and shark, palm trees, and even parrots. The splash pad deck was poured in three different colors of colored concrete and was designed to give the appearance of a ship docked at a pirate base. In total the splash pad system has the capacity of spraying over 900 gallons a minute offering multiple play features and experiences for all ages.

In addition to the splash pad itself, Magnum also completed the construction of a new 7,000 square foot parking lot, three new metal shade structures with concrete pads and concrete benches, two new custom wood shade canopies with seat walls, a new prefabricated concession and restroom building, and sidewalks. The existing parking lot was repaired to provide additional parking.

Magnum Construction began construction in August of 2019 and construction was completed in February of 2020 with the assistance of over a dozen other ABC of Oklahoma members. Magnum also partnered with the Oklahoma Labor Commission to perform safety visits to assist Magnum in our focus of ensuring a safe work environment. The splash pad was opened in May of 2020 and has been a huge success with capacity crowds on the weekends
